J\u2019ai grandi en Mauricie. J\u2019y ai suivi des cours de piano en priv\u00e9 et les cours de musique prodigu\u00e9s par l\u2019\u00e9cole publique. \u00c0 14 ans, en 1994, j\u2019ai jou\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois en public : un r\u00e9pertoire de musique ragtime. J\u2019avais re\u00e7u 50$ pour trois courtes performances! Cette exp\u00e9rience – et non la paye! – m\u2019a grandement motiv\u00e9 \u00e0 devenir professionnel. Inscrit au C\u00e9gep de Saint-Laurent en musique jazz, j\u2019ai vite abandonn\u00e9 les \u00e9tudes, qui ne r\u00e9pondaient pas \u00e0 mes attentes. Essentiellement, je suis autodidacte. J\u2019ai donc roul\u00e9 ma bosse comme pianiste dans des clubs et des restaurants de Montr\u00e9al, mais aussi \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger sur des bateaux de croisi\u00e8re.<\/p>

\u00c0 partir de 1999, j\u2019ai entrepris une v\u00e9ritable activit\u00e9 professionnelle. Je me sens toujours redevable \u00e0 ceux qui, les premiers, m\u2019ont appel\u00e9 au sein de leur groupe : les d\u00e9funts batteurs Guy Nadon (Festival international de Jazz de Montr\u00e9al) et Bernard Primeau (tourn\u00e9e en Hongrie), puis le contrebassiste Normand Guilbeault (\u00e9missions de Myra Cree<\/i> \u00e0 Radio-Canada). Plus tard, c\u2019est le saxophoniste Philippe Lauzier (Jardin d\u2019exil<\/i>), la chanteuse Sonia Johnson (Don\u2019t explain<\/i>) et le contrebassiste Alain B\u00e9dard (nombreuses tourn\u00e9es au Canada et en Europe) avec lesquels j\u2019ai pu concr\u00e9tiser mes premiers enregistrements.<\/p>

Depuis 2010, mes collaborations avec Michel Lambert (Journal des \u00e9pisodes I<\/i> et II<\/i>) et Jean Derome (Hommage \u00e0 Steve Lacy) sont dignes de mention. J\u2019ai aussi acquis une certaine exp\u00e9rience en arrangement et direction musicale avec l\u2019ensemble Okto\u00c9cho.<\/p>

D\u2019innombrables musiciens, que je ne peux tous nommer ici, ont fait appel \u00e0 moi au fil des ans : j\u2019en garde les meilleurs souvenirs. Avec eux, j\u2019ai partag\u00e9 la sc\u00e8ne, l\u2019arri\u00e8re-sc\u00e8ne, les salles prestigieuses, les bars miteux, les chambres d\u2019h\u00f4tels, les divans-lits, les places de train, les vieux chars pas d\u2019allure, les grandes tables, les truck-stops, les ing\u00e9nieurs de son, les horaires d\u00e9gradants : toujours avec la musique au c\u0153ur. Et \u00e7a continue!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
